Refresh And Reuse What You Have
Spring has finally sprung and I don’t know about you, but I want to open my windows and get some fresh air in after having the heat on so high all winter.
Spring also is a great time to look around your home and see what might need to be refreshed. You don’t have to spend a fortune to update a room. Sometimes all it takes is new pillows, an area rug, re-upholstering a tired chair and voilà – a new look and feel!
Here are a few examples of what a few minor changes can do to update your room.
- A client had a very monochromatic bedroom and wanted to add some pizzazz.
We took our inspiration from the teal lamp on her night table. Changing out the tan/cream pillows for teal/cream transformed the room’s whole look and feel.
These beautiful pillows were fabricated by Deb Cronin of Leatherwood Design, one of the finest workrooms in Westchester where they pay exceptional attention to detail.
2. Another client had a chair that had been her Mother’s.
We re-covered it, added a pillow, reading lamp and small table and now it’s great spot to read, have a cup of tea, or a glass of wine.
3. Next to the chair was a fireplace in the Master bedroom. This was a bigger renovation, but worth the effort.
We changed the wood burning fireplace to gas because no one had ever used it in the twenty or so years they lived in the home. It was too burdensome to lug firewood up the stairs. In addition, there’s the worry of embers causing a fire.
Next we refaced the mantel from brick to marble and the results were remarkable!
