Recently I had the pleasure of assisting a client re-design her Master Bedroom. The proper lighting and its placement was obviously an important consideration.

We wanted both table lamps but also swing arm sconces that would provide task lighting for reading in bed.

The room décor is aqua, cream and white – sooooo soothing for a bedroom.

Some of the lamps we explored –

Table Lamps

We loved this Bunny Williams lamp, but the scale was too big for the end tables. Maybe more suited for the family room.

Also loved this Christopher Spitzmiller lamp, loved the double gourd shape, but yikes pricey!

We narrowed it down to two options – This cream Visual Comfort double gourd

And this double gourd from One Kings Lane.

The blue lamp from One Kings Lane won out- similar enough to the Spitzmiller without the price tag.

Sconces

Next for the sconces which we planned to install adjacent to the headboard on either side for perfect reading light.

This Hinson was directionally what we were looking for, but the mechanism could be seen.

The John Rosselli was handsome, and had the double pull out arms we wanted, but more suited for a library or home office.

The perfect option was this Vaugan. The brass moldings on the back plate made it look very different, and perfect for the Master Bedroom!

As you can see, it’s not just about wattage, it’s all in the details that pull a room together and make it function for how you want to live.
