Repurpose, Renew, Refine

Recently a client of ours moved and loved their current sofa and chairs. But had grown tired of the floral print they once loved. The seating was structurally in very good shape, and a shame to discard.

We talked about what else would be placed in the room – can’t decorate in a vacuum without considering how it will impact the outcome. The client had purchased from the previous owners a cream and burgundy large credenza. So that was the starting point for the design.

I like to start with the rug – it has the largest impact on the room.

We selected a burgundy and cream rug to coordinate with the credenza. This became our jumping off point for the rest of the room.

We next updated the brown sofa with a cream fabric from Cowtan & Tout with a bit of texture. Added a burgundy rope trim around the seat cushions and a tape on the bottom of the skirt, both from Samuel and Sons.

The two floral chairs were updated with a cream check textured fabric from Suzanne Tucker, and the burgundy and cream rope trim.

The final touch was adding coordinating pillows and drapery to pull the room together.

Simple drapery panels framed the windows and finished off the room.
